Ever since I first heard that Le Belle Helene was opening in Uptown Charlotte, we’ve been planning our visit. While we’ve been to a few of the French restaurants that have popped up here in Charlotte (and are still around) Le Belle Helene was the opening we were the most excited about.
The restaurant opened on July 31st and has become a wildly popular spot on the Charlotte food scene. They’re open for lunch and dinner during the week, but we waited until they started their Sunday Brunch to check the place out.
Brunch has been and always will be our favorite meal of the day, and we planned our visit on the first day of my birthday week. We’d already seen so many beautiful pictures of the decor and architecture of the restaurant and I was even more impressed when I finally had the chance to see Le Belle Helene in person.
Our table had a view of the private rooms and the kitchen. While deciding on what we wanted to try out for our first Le Belle Helene brunch experience, we were already imagining what it would be like to dine in one of the private dining rooms. (I was quite intrigued by the more open venue just in front of the kitchen with its dark interior.) Our dining experience provided ample opportunities for people watching and I love imagining what people are saying as they talk animatedly to one another.

This particular room has three booths, perfect for gatherings with work colleagues.
While I’d originally planned on ordering the half-chicken. It’s been on my mind since I first scanned the menu, I decided not to over indulge in anything too much on the buttery side of things (what with the whole pesky dairy intolerance issue) as I hadn’t packed quite enough Lactaid pills. Next time though!
Count the lights… and let me know how many at the bottom of the post…
I ended up ordering the Waffles with Maple Syrup on the side while mom went with a quintessential French dish… Quiche Lorraine.
Although we were definitely full after our meals, we decided to order a dessert (since it was a birthday celebration after all) and after scanning the dessert menu we finally settled on the Seasonal Berries with Meringue.
Our favorite detail was the Happy Birthday message that had been expertly drawn onto the plate with chocolate. Yum-my!
