Like with many things, birthday celebrations are looking very different at the moment. Thankfully my mom and I live in the same household, so that means we were able to pull together a birthday celebration between the two of us. Since we have been all about creating delicious cheeseboards lately (it’s our favorite WFH lunch) we knew we wanted to feature a cheeseboard for our little soiree. Over the past few weeks we’ve been picking up different meats, cheeses and a selection of nuts and fresh fruit from our local Fresh Market which has become a little foodie haven for us.
In order to support a few of our favorite small businesses and to make the celebration extra special, we picked up our table runner and flower placemat from Crossings on Main, and our delicious desserts were created by the immensely talented Maria Siragusa of Eclairesse who also created the ‘Thank You’ eclairs for my sisters baby shower last year. As you’ll see later in the post, Maria created the delicate flowers by hand and I had the opportunity to see her creating a similar flower a few weeks back when she did an Instagram Live. We were so lucky to get an order into her last minute and we’re already looking forward to the delicious torte Charlotte Torte (with homemade lady fingers, strawberry mousse and fresh farm strawberries) that she’s creating for Mother’s Day.

Had to do a closeup of these beautiful flowers that Maria piped by hand.

Honeycomb from Capital Bee Company Savannah, GA
The honeycomb from Capital Bee Company in Savannah, Georgia is beyond delicious. It paired well with all our cheeses (especially the goat gouda and the Swiss). We also ordered a few of their honey lollipops (in Honey Lemon and Honey Lavender) and some of their Peach Honey Sticks for adding to my cup of English Breakfast that I like to enjoy in the evenings. So, when we can travel again, a visit to this little honey haven in Savannah is a must!
We kept our beverage simple, just Blackberry Izzies (my favorite flavor) with a few berries and a few springs of fresh lemon thyme from the herb garden.
Bee Glasses (Ballard), Bee Plates (Williams-Sonoma), Flower Cocottes (Le Creuset)
We picked up an amazing selection of cheeseboard crackers at Fresh Market a month back and we narrowed it down to three so we could feature them in our little Le Creuset Flower Cocottes. The crackers are by The Fine Cheese Co out of Bath, England and we picked them up in every flavor they had. Each box has suggestions on which cheeses to pair with the crackers which is very helpful for this cheeseboard newbie.
