One things that I’ve enjoyed about the past few months is I’ve had the chance to try out a few new beauty and skincare products. Some of of the brands are ones that I’ve previously shared about (ie Wander Beauty and fresh) and another brand is one that I’d heard about before but finally decided which products would work best for my current skincare needs (Megababe!)
During this time one of the things that I’ve been seriously neglecting is my lips. I used to have quite a bit of problems with dry cracked lips, but after getting in the habit of applying lip gloss and balm throughout the work day I wasn’t having many issues in that area. That changed the moment we shifted to the work from home model.
I was getting up later (well 30 minutes later, but 7am is much better than 6:30!) and most days unless I had a zoom meeting or needed to run an essential errand I would just stay in the pj’s all day with my hair pulled up in a pony tail. This also meant skipping applying any lip gloss or balms and it wasn’t long until my lips were starting to suffer.
Sugar Hydrating Lip Balm | fresh
Fresh is a brand that I’m sure many of you are familiar with. My mom has been a fan of their Sugar Petal Tinted Lip Treatment for years and one of my co-workers is never without a tube or two of the lip balm in her purse. So, when we popped onto Sephora’s website a few weeks back in search of hydrating lip balms, we stumbled on two flavors we were eager to try Lime Mint (for mom) and Blood Orange (for me).
Before using this product it’s important to use a scrub first if you have any dead skin cells that need to be scrubbed away (otherwise it’s a no-go when it comes to absorbing the product properly.) If you’d prefer not to use your fingertips (even after rigorous hand washing) then just apply with a sponge, q-tip or other disposable applicator!
For me the scents of these two balms wasn’t overwhelming (just a mellow citrus aroma) making them a win/win for those of us who are extra sensitive to scents!
A few of the other flavors(colors) include: Coconut, Peach, Caramel, Lemon, Watermelon
Double Date | Wander Beauty
While many of us are still working from home, with returning to the office in the near future (we’ll be back in the office starting next Monday!) Zoom meets are definitely an occasion to go beyond a simple lip balm and add a touch of color to your lips at the very least!
Double Date is one of two new releases made by Wander Beauty during the months we’ve been safe at home, and it’s a must have multi-tasker. Available in 2 shades Rendezvous (Peony Pink/Swipe) and Suite Talker (Nude/Swipe) this product gives you a sheet tint along with a clear balm (swipe) to give your lips, cheeks and eyelids an extra bit of moisture.
For those who are ingredient conscious Double Date is made with Safflower Seed Oil (for elasticity) Green Tea Leaf Extract (anti-inflmmatory/antioxidant) and Sunflower Seed Oil (helps with moisture retention)
To use: Just tap and blend the sheer tent with fingertips or use a makeup brush to apply to lips and cheeks then layer on swipe for a dewy finish.
Wander Beauty also shared a few other ways to use the clear balm (swipe) which I’ve been using, including applying to lids (for a dewy look) layering over lipstick (for a hydrating finish) and two of my favorite ways to use it… over my brows (which have gotten a bit unruly without my routine threading appointments) and to help tame flyaways at the hairline.
Le Tush | Megababe
While named and made for the derrière, the clarifying mask made by Megababe can be used anywhere you’d like to brighten and tighten.
Happy Pits | Megababe
Also by Megababe this Detoxifying Underarm Mask made with Charcoal, Glycolic Acid & Vitamin C is THE product that you need if you’re even considering the switch from aluminum based deodorants to natural deodorants. Using this mask will ease with the transition and you’ll adjust to your new natural deodorant in no time. Plus it’s good to give your under arms a little detox every once in awhile.
This product was first suggested via Grace of The Stripe, and I have to say that I’m a huge fan. My underarms are definitely happier and the skin irritation that I get from time to time is clearing up. Megababe for the WIN!
