Wondering what to do for your next girls’ day/night out in Charlotte? Why not head over to Southend to Paddywax Candle Bar? Whether you’re gathering with friends, celebrating a birthday, or hosting a baby shower, creating your own candle in one of the vast array of vessels is always a great idea.
Since my sister was away at a medical conference on her actual birthday, we decided to celebrate it with a sister’s day out. We started our day at Paddywax Candle Bar, which is located in the Southend neighborhood of Charlotte, just steps away from Uptown CLT.
Tip
It’s essential to book your time at Paddywax in advance. You can book your candle-making experience at thecandlebar.co, I have the link set up for the Southend CLT location, but hopefully, you can find a location near you if you’re not in the Charlotte area.
Hours for Southend: Mon-Sat 11a-8p Sun 11a-5p

After checking in at the front, it’s time to find your seat. If you’re not with a group, and you’re a first timer like we were, it’s a good idea to sit at the front table. We shared our table with fellow first-timers who were there celebrating one of the group’s upcoming nuptials.
Each group will be paired with an associate to get you started, but for the most part, after you’ve picked out your vessel and your scent, the rest of the candle-making process is self-guided with the candle-making guide that is at each person’s station.

Once you’ve picked out your vessel, it’s time to move on to choosing your scent. There are so many scents to choose from, and they have a small candle with each scent so you can give it a whiff to help make your choice.

Another interesting thing we noticed after we’d already picked our scent (we both chose the Misted Lime since it was the most mellow of all the scents available), is that there are a scent suggestion on the bottom of each of the vessels.

Once you’ve chosen your vessel and your scent, you’ll head back to your table, where an associate will bring around a wick for your candle and glue dots to keep it secure at the bottom of your vessel while you make your candle.
It’s important to write down all your details on the card that will be kept with your candle while it solidifies. This could take up to 3 hours, so be sure to have plans in the area so you can swing back by to pick it up.

Be sure to measure out the exact amount of your chosen scent and your wax.

Living our best candle-making lives… and looking forward to seeing how they are going to turn out in a few hours.
