It’s been far too long since we’d made it back to Kindred, located on Davidson’s Main Street. Since I’d taken the day off last Friday, we decided to brave the decidedly gloomy weather (which makes you just want to curl up in bed with a particular riveting book) and head up to Davidson, NC. While it’s typically about 45 minute drive to get from where we are to Davidson, it took a bit longer due to the epic road construction that has been going on forever.
Kindred is a chef-driven restaurant that sources it’s produce locally which means everything you enjoy while dining at the restaurant is in the peak of freshness. When we arrived we intent on finding an nice cozy table inside of the surprisingly busy Kindred despite it being so close to closing. (They are open from 11:00a to 2:30p for lunch Tuesday-Saturday and we arrived around 2pm.)
While we waited for our food I always like to do a bit of ‘people watching’ and I couldn’t help but notice how differently everyone was dressed. You’d have one group completely attired for fall complete with knee high boots, while others were in sundress and sandals. I had gone with a combination look myself, opting for a sleeves less top layered underneath a cozy sweater with sandal ‘booties’ that would handle any rainy weather we might have run into.
For this visit to Kindred, I decided to try one of their new dishes (or at least it was new to me) which was the pasta with tomato basil sauce that you’ll see below. You can add some of their delicious Plancha Seared Chicken Breast to your salad or pasta, and for me chicken is always a good idea whether it’s for lunch or dinner. I’ve also enjoyed their chicken with Gnocchi in Tomato Sauce in the past which was also exceptionally delicious.
As we finished our last few bites we had most of there restaurant to ourselves… and we enjoyed our last few morsels of deliciousness before heading back out into the afternoon.

The food looks so good especially the gnocchi! Love the marble table tops and the comfy seating – perfect spot for lunch! I love to people watch too whilst waiting for food! : )
