Get to Know Korean Skincare Brand AXIS-Y | Review

Today I’m sharing about AXIS-Y, the climate-inspired skincare brand from Korea that focuses on natural, ingredients that your skin will love. I recently had the opportunity to try out a few of their products including the Dark Spot Correcting Glow Serum, Spot the Difference Blemish Treatment, Complete No Stress Physical Sunscreen, and of course the Mugwort Pore Clarifying Wash off Pack.

One of the many things I enjoyed about the skincare products from AXIS-Y, is the fact that along with being paraben-free, artificial oil-free, and mineral oil-free, any artificial fragrances to their products. My approach to skincare has always been about products that provide results and are made with quality ingredients and none of the things that you wouldn’t want to put on your skin including synthetic fragrances. AXIS-Y products are also completely vegan using plant-derived ingredients that are never tested on animals.

Spot the Difference Blemish Treatment

Since I’ve been dealing with breakouts on my forehead and near my hairline so I needed to add a targeted blemish treatment that worked with my sensitive skin instead of irritating it more.

The Spot the Difference Blemish Treatment is gentle and hydrating, which is exactly what you want when it comes to a blemish treatment. This blemish treatment didn’t burn my skin and the product was quickly absorbed with a few gentle taps.

This is a treatment that gives you results. I applied it for the first time during my evening skincare routine and by the time I woke up in the morning, my blemishes were already smaller with continued use I’m looking forward to seeing my trouble spots going away altogether.

What’s in it?

• Tea Tree Extract: soothes and reduces irritation

• Camphor Leaf: with its antibacterial and antifungal properties, this ingredient improves the overall appearance of your skin

• Licorice Root: brightens and soothes with antioxidants

• Green Tea Leaf: calms, repairs damage, and helps with discoloration that can often be left behind as a blemish begins to heal

• Mentha Aquatica: revitalizes, reinvigorates, and refreshes

• Broadleaf Bamboo: another antioxidant that helps strengthen the skin’s natural barrier while providing moisture

• 4-Terpineol: main active ingredient found in tea tree extract

• Phyto-Oligo: consists of hollyhock flower and aloe vera extracts, it’s moisturizing and non-irritating making perfect

• Ceramide Capsules: keep the moisture in and the pollutants out, providing extra protection from environmental factors

How to use it:

Cleanse and prep skin with toners before applying the Spot the Difference Blemish Treatment. Use the dropper to apply the right amount to your target area. Gently tap skin until absorbed before continuing with the rest of your skincare routine.

Dark Spot Correcting Glow Serum

While I don’t have dark spots or acne scaring thanks to having clear skin for the majority of my life, the dark spot treatment can also be used to treat hyperpigmentation, improve skin elasticity which can diminish as we age while hydrating, improve rough skin and help get lighten those dark under-eye circles.

Since there are several ingredients in the serum to soothe irritated skin, I even use this serum under my eyes when I’m dealing with my spring allergies. I really love the texture of the serum, which is light and absorbs well into your skin, leaving it dewy and brightened.

What’s in it?

• Squalane: fights signs of aging by protecting skin from free radicals

• Sea Buckthorn: soothes irritated, inflamed skin

• Allantoin: stimulates cell product by promoting new tissue growth

• Papaya: brightens damaged skin and dark under eye circles

• Rice Bran: smooths and brightens skin

• Calendula: speeds up the healing process of blemishes and acne scars

• Niacinamide 5%: this water soluble vitamin that helps improve uneven skin tone, dullness and strengths the skins natural barrier

How to use it:

After cleansing, toner and ampoule, squeeze out a small amount of serum and apply to your entire face (or just problem areas). Tap into skin until absorbed and continue with the rest of your skincare routine.

Complete No Stress Physical Sunscreen

Now that we’re having warmer sunnier weather, it’s time for me to start spending more time outside from working on planting our lilac bushes, and new lavender plants to taking a bike ride on the walking trail near my home. Since I spend the majority of my time in my cubicle at the office, I’m not in a habit of applying sunscreen daily, but since this sunscreen has no artificial fragrances and is allergen-free I’m enjoying putting on my sunscreen more regularly.

The benefits of the Complete No Stress Physical Sunscreen, include brightening and soothing effects from the reef-safe ingredients, without any stickiness or piling that often happens with other sunscreens.

There is an initial white cast, but it’s minimal and it fades within minutes of application.

How to use it:

After completing your morning skincare routine, apply to face and neck, covering any areas that will be exposed to sunlight.

Mugwort Pore Clarifying Wash-off Pack

Skincare masks are one of my favorite ways to indulge in a little self-care, and since I tend to get congested pores and trapped sebum under my skin on my forehead, having a pre clarifying wash-off pack is always something good to have on hand to help prevent those skin concerns. The Mugwort Pore Clarifying Wash-off Pack was inspired by the South Korean government’s #StayStrongCampaign to support the fight against COVID-19 around the world. AXIS-Y noticed that members of their skincare community were dealing with skin issues from daily mask wear (aka ‘maskne’) and this wash-off pack is created to help soothe stressed-out skin and the irritations that come along with it.

This product can be used by all skin types and deals with skin concerns such as acne, pores, oily skin, and uneven texture with gentle exfoliation. I like to use the wash-off pack once a week as part of my self-care routine.

What’s in it?

• Mugwort: protects skin and revitalizes it from damage while soothing and cleansing skin

• Adzuki Bean: gently removes dead skin cells

• Kelp: revitalizes and nourishes rough, irritated skin, to keep skin looking clear

• Mung Bean: moisturize and brighten skin, improves texture and strengths the skin’s natural barrier and regenerates skin’s elasticity

• Lotus: regenerates and controls sebum, helping to remove free radicals that can age skin, leaving dull skin clear and visibly brightened

How to use it:

Using a skincare spatula, scoop an adequate amount onto a freshly cleansed, dry face. Apply an even layer, avoiding applying too closely around the eyes and mouth. Allow the wash-off pack to dry and harden for about 15 minutes before washing off with lukewarm water.
