I’ve been dreaming about visiting the Duke Mansion for months now, and finally yesterday the day finally came. As always I’d planned out my outfit weeks in advance opting for a breathable linen dress from Spartina 449, the collaborative Jack Rogers x Spartina 449 sandals, and of course the stunning Midi Loren Tote in blush from Alexandra de Curtis.
If you’ve visited the blog recently, you’ll have seen last week’s interview with Alexandra where she shares an inside look into the brand, the importance of keeping everything made in Italy from the prototype to the finished product. One of the many things that I love about the Midi Loren Tote it allows you to carry everything you need, including a book to keep you occupied over your lunch hour, and the bag features hidden hardware so you can go with gold or silver accessories, and it’s so easy to dress the handbag up for a garden party or gathering, or dress it down with a flowy top, jeans and ballet flats on those days where you are traveling or rediscovering all that your own city has to offer.
The Midi Loren Tote (also available in a larger size as well) comes in a variety of beautiful color options, but given my affinity for all things pink, I knew that the blush option was going to be a go-to option for me. Plus the color is exactly as appears in the photos on the Alexandra de Curtis website, the perfect shade of blush and I was so happy that it matched my dress for the day perfectly. I also styled it with a scarf that features both pink, orange, yellow, and neutral tones which adds a little pop of color.
The gardens at the Duke Mansion which are open during daylight hours every day (with the exception of the days when they are an event) are the ideal place to enjoy some fresh air and see all of the beautiful flowers that have bloomed for the summer season. From the Rose Garden to the hydrangeas, daisies, and magnolias, there are so many areas of the garden to explore and it’s just minutes from Uptown Charlotte.

I found the perfect bench in one of the shady spots with a few of the daisies to take a little break and read a few pages of the book I’m currently reading. It was so nice to just take a breath and relax knowing that we had this little spot completely to ourselves.

Spending a few moments on the veranda, tucked away and recalling a previous visit where we sipped on the most delicious lemonade while taking in the grandeur of this historic home that has been part of Charlotte’s history for over 100 years. I can definitely see why we locals are drawn here, and I’m looking forward to visiting again for upcoming events.
