One of our first stops during any visit to the Biltmore, is the Well-Bred Bakery & Cafe. Located in what was previously Chelsea’s Tea Room (for those of you who have not been to Asheville in many years) and this bakery is always packed no matter what time of day you visit. We happened to visit during the lunch rush and let me tell you personal space is not an option.
While we usually visit Well-Bread simply for sweets, this time we tried out a few of their lunch options. We placed our order and the counter while mom secured one of the few remaining tables.
Since I love chicken salad I decided to go with their Classic Chicken Salad Sandwich on a Croissant. Well-Bred’s Classic Chicken Salad features a mixture of chicken, celery and grapes and if you’re seriously hungry like I was then getting a whole versus a half is definitely the way to go.
Among their other lunch options, Well-Bred features three regular’ Quiches and three gluten-free options as well.
Ashley (my sister) went with the Bacon Quiche which is a buttery Quiche layered with bacon, cheddar cheese and scallions.
Mom went with her favorite Spinach Quiche which is a perfect option for those of you enjoy savory Quiches. This particular Quiche is layered with spinach, feta cheese and roasted red peppers. Yum-my.
As with any trip to Well-Bred you absolutely must pick up some goodies to either enjoy while you’re at the bakery or to bring home. I love their vegan Classic Chocolate Chip Cookies and I always pick up three every time I visit. They are massive and as someone who doesn’t eat sweets very often I can enjoy them for quite a while.
Along with their Biltmore Village location (6 Boston Way, Asheville, NC) Well-Bred also has a Weaverville location (26 N. Main Street, Weaverville) so be sure to stop in and enjoy something delicious!
