“Their products contain face-grade ingredients…to transform your body care ritual into a self-care experience.” — Brydie
We live in a world full of scents, both good and bad, but for those of us who have an overactive sense of smell, finding products not saturated with fragrance is becoming increasingly rare. I first discovered Nécessaire back in 2019 where I shared my experience with their body wash and lotion that are both available in fragrance-free options, and I continue to use the body wash to this day. I love the luxurious lather you get with the body wash and the fact that your skin feels clean without being saturated with scent, there is absolutely no scent to the fragrance-free products.
When Nécessaire recently released their own haircare products ‘The Shampoo’ and ‘The Conditioner’ both available in a fragrance-free option, I knew that I wanted to try them out. Since I first started coloring my hair, I’ve found that I’ve been reaching for conditioner more than I used to in order to keep my hair from feeling dry, and I was looking at a new option to try along with my usual Aveda and Prose shampoos.
For those of you who have fine hair, you already know the struggle to find a shampoo that not only leaves your hair feeling clean but also gives it volume, adds a healthy shine, and keeps those dreaded stray flyaways at bay.
The Shampoo
The shampoo is a liquid gel formula that creates the most luxurious lather I’ve experienced in a shampoo so far. Like with the Nécessaire products I’ve tried in the past (The Body Wash) there is absolutely no fragrance at all to the shampoo which I love. It leaves your hair feeling clean with absolutely no residue and since I wash my hair daily, finding a shampoo that won’t leave my hair feeling dried out was very important to me. Along with plant-based ingredients like aloe vera leaf juice, this shampoo also adds nutrients back into your hair with Vitamins B3 and B5.
My thoughts: I’m definitely enjoying this shampoo, and plan to use it as part of my daily haircare routine.
The Conditioner
The conditioner is a cream-based formula featuring hyaluronic acid, Vitamins B3 and B5 and celery see extract. While this conditioner does have a slight aroma to it (due to the celery seed extract) it left my hair feeling so soft and silky smooth that I wasn’t troubled by the slight natural aroma. Not to mention that the hyaluronic acid added some much-needed moisture back into my hair without leaving it feeling weighed down.
My thoughts: I just love how this conditioner makes my hair feel, and if you color your hair like I do, giving your hair a little extra hydration a few times a week is essential.

I will have to try this! I have such fine hair and post-baby I have sooo many flyaways, it’s crazy… adding frizz-ease spray just makes my hair look unwashed and limp. Hope this will help! 🙂
