Well, I had to turn 33 eventually… So why not celebrate it while on vacation?! We started the day off early with some room service, because you can’t have a fun vacation without ordering some…
We did a bit of walking around after breakfast, checked out some of the shops that are in both the Sammons and Vanderbilt wings. Before heading out into the rain to make a quick Starbuck run.
Since mum had her needlepoint class to attend for the afternoon, we picked up a quick lunch at the Marketplace in the Vanderbilt wing before heading down to the conference rooms below.
With mum at her class, I curled up on one of the couches outside of the conference room and took in the rainy view. (Which was quite pretty actually…)
I love fog. Not driving in it obviously… but watching it from a comfy seat. Yes, please.
What you see on the bottom right is the spa. It’s underground, but with skylights… Also, note that the leaves are just starting to get some fall color. Still lots of green there.
No one was taking advantage of the outdoor pool in the rain… The indoor pools in the spa are a much better option…
After mum’s class ended we headed back to the room to fresh up for the special birthday dinner @ Sunset Terrace… and to snap a picture of the canvas/goodies from the Needlepoint class.
Now time to walk to dinner… Let me tell you, the Grove Park is massive, and we made the trip from one end of the inn to the other many times throughout each day.
You wouldn’t believe that just moments before we headed to the restaurant, this whole area was covered by a thick fog!
Later we were going to order desserts, but I ‘chickened’ out at the last moment. Mum however got to enjoy a delicious (albeit very expensive) piece of cheesecake.
Stay tuned for Day 3, coming shortly…
