“I love white shirts because they feel like a security blanket. You can wear them with anything. It’s the person and the way that they wear it that makes it different. I have been designing white shirts forever, but I don’t get tired of it.” — Carolina Herrera
I love adding a bit of romance and femininity to my causal looks, and Ann Taylor’s new take on the classic white shirt checked off all the right boxes for me. The ruffled collar instantly pops and as one of my favorites on Instagram, @carla.rockmore says ‘a pop of the collar’ always elevates an outfit. I also just adore the raglan sleeves that gather delicately at the wrist.
I paired my look with the softest jeans from my closet, which are a more relaxed look for me (I tend towards a more fitted look) but I just love these ones from Everlane. I bought them one size up from my usual size, but if the straight-leg jean trend continues I’ll probably pick up a pair in my regular size as well for a more fitted look. For my petite followers out there, these jeans will need just a little hemming if you’re 5’3″ or under.
To add a bit of fun, and bring a little ‘fall’ to my look I added a borrowed animal print scarf to my Midi Loren Tote from Alexandra de Curtis which fits all of your essentials without weighing you down which is important whether you’re running errands or popping in to see a new art exhibition like we were.
Our little art venture also gave me the first opportunity to wear the Sacchetto Ballet Flats from Sarah Flint. The leather of these shoes is like butter and my feet have never been happier in a ballet flat right out of the box. These shoes truly have all the comfort of your favorite pair of slippers, while being a stylish ballet flat.

MICROCOSM is the newest exhibition to open at the ANFA Gallery and features work by Stuart Coleman Budd and Meredith Connelly. The exhibition explores the intersections between art and nature, and it’s one of our favorite exhibitions to date. We’ve always enjoyed Stuart Coleman Budd’s work and the sense of calm that it brings as you view it and I loved seeing Meredith Connelly’s work for the first time. Her work is made from layers of misted metallic and bright colored paint on brown paperthat are hand-cut into patterns of microcosms and biological forms and are then placed between two layers of glass. the infrastructure for cut patterns reflective of microcosms and biological forms.
The exhibition is on view through October 16th.

About the Sacchetto Ballet Flat
These shoes are my new favorites and in Sand Nappa, they are the perfect year-round color, not to mention ideal for transitioning from summer to fall. I love the two-toned look for this particular colorway and the added touch of the covered button that matches the patent toe. This shoe is available in Sand Nappa, Black Nappa, and two brand new colorways, Espresso Suede featuring a Tortoise Patent toe and Navy Suede featuring a matching Croc toe.
Sizing
I bought the shoe in my usual size 36EU/6US and these shoes fit my medium-width foot and narrow heel perfectly. I’d definitely recommend getting your regular size in this one, and there is plenty of room for your toes not to feel scrunched thanks to squared toe. I’d also suggest the style if you have a wide foot, but if you’re a narrow it’s suggested to size 1/2 size down for the best fit. As always, if you have specific questions about fit, I recommend scheduling a virtual styling appointment with a stylist for the best fit for you. Or if you’re in the Georgetown area, head over to the pop-up to try on these beautiful shoes in person.

A white shirt is always a great staple! I loved seeing Budd’s work for the first time on this post–I love the water, and his work feels so real!

I love a good white shirt! It does always make me a littleeeee nervous I’ll stain it but that’s what bleach is for, right?

I love the idea of wearing a white shirt, but my fear of getting it dirty prevents me from wearing it every time, LOL. I have a few white shirts/blouses in my closet that I never wear😫😩
