I received the perfect charcuterie board as gift just before the Christmas holidays, and I COULD NOT WAIT to use it for the first time last week. The board features both wood and marble and is just right for a charcuterie board for two (or one if you’re really hungry!) Just before I received the board we’d picked up Rainer cherries and Jam grapes, both of which were new to us and let me tell you, you haven’t lived until you’ve had a jam grape. They are literally like candy!
I love the variegated colors or the Rainer cherries versus a ‘river of meat’ that is typical of most charcuterie boards (including ones we’ve made in the past) For our third fruit I opted for dried apricots for another splash of color.
While we had a wheel of goat brie and mozzarella balls, I wanted to go with a spreadable chèvre option for this particular board, and any of the CHEVOO Spreadable Goat Cheeses are the most delicious option for a charcuterie board (we also love their marinated options too which are available at least two of Charlotte area Whole Foods, as well as the Whole Foods in Mount Pleasant!)
For our meats I love to go with either a San Daniele Prosciutto or a Mild Italian Salami (which I went with for this board) as it adds a nice bit of savory alongside the sweetness of the grapes and the tanginess of the goat cheese.
Finally I featured Rosemary Crisps by 34 Degrees which are so delicate and perfect for spreading goat cheese on, and two varieties of nuts (chopped walnuts & salted macadamia nuts) to finish off my board.
