While I always like to plan out my blog posts in advance, for our latest vacation to the most perfect little cottage in Palmetto Bluff, I decided to bring a laptop along with me and get a head start on writing the blog posts that I would be sharing throughout the month.
As all content creators know, despite all the best laid plans, some post ideas don’t always work out once you arrive at your vacation destination, and sometimes other ideas (perhaps even better ones!) take their place. So having a plan in place were you can easily switch your post ideas around is always a good rule of thumb.
Before leaving for our trip, I’d planned out all the posts I wanted to shoot photographs for each day, complete with what outfits I’d planned to wear etc. Having an idea of what you want to write, and the kind of photos you’re looking for always helps when it comes time to actually shoot the photos on location.
For this trip I also had the luxury of having a little loft space that was the perfect set up for my little blogging studio and we picked up some gorgeous flowers (and whipped up a delicious batch of cookies in the cottage’s kitchen) which always make the blog writing process. After all…
Delicious snacks = Fuel for inspired content
What app did I use to plan out my posts?
Well, the Notes app has always been my go-to and I love how everything is in sync between my computer, iPad and phone, so no matter what device I make the changes on, everything updates automatically. Plus it’s easy to add post titles from my ‘Bluffton Trip’ notes to my Editorial Calendar which is also in Notes.
The benefits of writing blog posts on location?
- Everything is fresh in your memory so there’s no worries about forgetting any of the details you want to share about each experience.
- There are less interruptions, especially if you have a designated away from your fellow guests where you can easily escape to when inspiration strikes!
- You can start scheduling out your blog posts in advance which makes any content creator breathe a sigh of relief.
