“There shall be eternal summer in the grateful heart.” — Celia Thaxter
This year I’ve found myself holding onto the summer season, especially those few extra hours of sunlight in the evenings. So even though menus have started to switch over to fall already, I’m not ready to say goodbye to the summer season quite yet, after all, we still have almost a month left before it’s time to start making fall-inspired desserts and planning fall trips up to the mountains to see the changing of the leaves.
For those of you who like to think ahead and have begun selecting pieces for your wardrobe that will take you from summer to fall, this late summer look can easily make the transition with just a few changes to the accessories. It features both luxury and budget-friendly options including my first ever dumpling bag.
This Lou & Grey dress is made of the softest fabric, making this a cozy go-to look that will be every bit as comfortable as lounging around the house in your favorite yoga pants and sweatshirt. I paired it with a Cashmere Crew Neck Sweater from JCrew, via Amazon, that gives you the look you’re going for without the hassle of the buttons showing through the back of the sweater.
My wrap sandals are from Margaux and come in a variety of colors, but I like the versatility of the saddle, and these shoes are so comfortable for walking around throughout your day, and depending on your office dress code is suitable for wearing at your 9-5 as well as on the weekend.
Cuyana makes the perfect Wide Brim Summer Hat, and this was my very first time wearing it. It comes in four different band sizes (56-59) so be sure to measure your head according to the website’s instructions before ordering your hat for the very best fit. I’m wearing a 56 for reference.
My handbag while inspired by the dumpling bags from the well-known fashion brands Bottega Veneta and Mansur Gavriel, it’s a more affordable option that I found on Amazon for just under $40.

I kept my gold accessories simple, with my favorite barely-there faceted bead necklace that I found on Etsy, my go-to pair of statement earrings I found at Spartina 449 during our July trip to Highlands, NC, and my new Corda Fine Chain Friendship Bracelet from Monica Vinader. While the brand has been around for a while, I recently discovered them, and I just love their selection of jewelry pieces. Many of the pieces are available in gold, rose gold, or sterling silver, including this particular bracelet. I also love the female-founded brand that strives to bring luxury jewelry pieces at affordable prices and I even have a discount code for you below.

I love this look! I always wish I could pull off a maxi dress but I’m far too self-conscious for that. You look great!
