It’s been a hectic week that’s for certain. My mom had surgery on Thursday, so we’re spending the weekend in, with my mom recuperating and me in the kitchen whipping up my first batch of Pecan Cookies with topped with Cherry Buttercream and experimenting with the ratio of blackberry syrup to San Pellegrino in a drink recipe that I’m current making up as I go along. (Final recipe coming to the blog soon, of course!)
Last weekend we made another cherry related dessert, our first ever Cherry Clafoutis using a recipe from Gaby of What’s Gaby Cooking. It was amazing and not to difficult to make (especially if you have a cherry pitter which we picked up via Amazon) and we were fortunate to find the most luscious cherries which added a bit of tart to the dessert. I don’t know whether the fact that Cherry Clafoutis is a French dessert or the fact that it’s not an overly sweet dessert that made me love it more, but I’m already looking forward to make it again and we have plenty of cherries on our hands to do so.
