Scenes around The Cloister

One thing that you’ll definitely realize when you check in at The Cloister, is there is not a single part of the resort that you won’t want to enjoy during your trip.

There are plenty of chairs and couches in the main lobby underneath the massive chandeliers, as well as a fireside sitting area where you can relax the day away during cooler weather. There are also several restaurant options at The Cloister, which include an Italian restaurant (Tavola) that we enjoyed on our first night at the resort. If you’re curious about the dress codes for each of the restaurants in the Cloister, your bellman will happily tell you during the brief tour of the building.

No matter what the weather, we found that you could get the best views (and pictures) of both the interiors and sites around the resort if you go on foot, although the staff will be more than happy to take you around via golf cart or car to any of the locations on the property.

On the second morning of our stay, we took ourselves on a self-guided tour around the grounds of The Cloister which include the outdoor deck/pool area, the inland view of the water where we snapped pictures of the boats currently docked, and the chapel.

The Mediterranean design of the Sea Island Resort is definitely something you appreciate during your stay, and if unique architecture is something you look for in a destination, both the Cloister and the Georgia coast should definitely be on your travel list. Trust me, once you arrive on the property, you won’t want to leave.

Another one of the sites that is a ‘must see’ during your trip, is the life-sized chessboard that we had more than a little trouble finding, but that just meant more exploring on our part. (Plus don’t feel bad if you get a little lost, we definitely ran into a few guests who had lost their way!)

Another must see location at the Sea Island Resort is the Spa/Fitness area. Whether you’re looking to take a dip in the heated indoor lap pool, play a game of squash or get a treatment at the spa, it’s a beautiful area to check out.
