Have you ever walked into the produce aisle of your grocery store and seen some fresh fruits or veggies that you instantly knew had to come home with you? That’s what happened last weekend when I saw the most GORGEOUS bags of fresh cherries. After scanning through the bags for the one with the most perfect selection of cherries I quickly grabbed the few items I’d actually walked into the store for, went through the self-checkout, and then practically skipped out the door to show my newly purchased cherries to my mom (aka @theneedleworkfinisher) who was waiting in the car.
We’d already picked up a take ‘n bake brie with strawberry jam from Fresh Market along with some chevre, and I had clearly had charcuterie on the brain when I walked into the grocery store. For these larger boards, I share my ‘vision’ of what I want to go on the board and where, and then my mom makes the magic happen while I usually go to work on whatever handcrafted beverage we’ll be enjoying along with our board.
For those of you who have a Fresh Market in your area and have a serious love for brie, you really have to try one of their take ‘n bake brie’s, and if you like to prepared or like a particular flavor of jam I would pre-order your brie in advance. I’d also put the brie on an appetizer plate to preserve your charcuterie board, as oils from melted brie can make quite a mess!
I went with three different flavor profile options for my crackers. The original (aka plain) crisps from 34 Degrees pair well with the herbed chevre, the parmesan crackers from Paul & Pippa that I’ve been OBSESSED with ever since I first tried them a few months back work well along with both of the fruit options on this board (I recently snacked on them with the Strawberry Acai Refresher from Starbucks and I highly recommend. It’s the perfect flavor balance.) The third cracker is the Herbes de Provence that I like to pair with the sliced manchego.
To finish off our board we chose not to go with the salami flower that we have been featuring on our last few boards, I liked this fun option of using some of the mini skewers that we had on a hand to create little salami spears. So delicious!
