If you’re looking for a nice break from shopping along Main Street in Highlands, NC stopping in at Madison’s Restaurant (or the connecting Wine Garden) for a bite eat is always a good idea. Reservations while not required (but are recommended) especially during the peak times.
Although we’d originally planned on eating outside in the Wine Garden since the weather was so deliciously cool, the wine garden fills up fast and there are no reservations allowed.
After a short wait we were shown to the perfect little booth by the windows overlooking the entrance to the wine garden and after a quick look at the menu (I’d already decided exactly what I wanted before we even left our VRBO.) we ordered our lunch started snacking on the bread options that were brought around to the table shortly afterwards.
Ever since our first trip to Highlands, were we had both lunch and room service from Madison’s (ordered to the Old Edwards Spa) I’ve been a fan of their chicken salad sandwich. It’s a delightful mixture of chicken, mustard seeds, shallots, nuts and fruit and if I had suggest one thing to try on the menu for your first dining experience at Madison’s, it would definitely be the chicken salad sandwich.
