On Saturday we met up with my sister and bro-in-law to walk through the Daniel Stowe Botanical Gardens (in Belmont, NC) and have a little lunch at one of our most favorite eateries, Dean and Deluca.
The weather app had been promising sun earlier in the week, but when we got up in the morning, it was decidedly overcast and more than a little chilly. However, by the time my sister and brother-in-law arrived at the gardens, the sun was starting to peak out from behind the clouds.
We arrived at the gardens early, so that gave mum and I a chance to check out the Orchid Conservatory before my sister and brother-in-law arrived. If you’ve ever been in a Conservatory, you’ll remember the warmth and humidity that fills the air around you. Normally humidity is something I strive to avoid whenever humanly possible, but with the cool temperatures outside, I welcomed it.
My brother-in-law and I kept trying to find this bird which we could hear very clearly, but could not quite locate. When we did, the bird was determined it would not be photographed… at least not the way I was hoping.
After a quick stop over in the Garden shop, we were back on the road again, our stomachs complaining loudly. I didn’t realize just how hungry I was until we were nearly there.
